I usually don't have to ask for a group ID of a find but this one has me. There are a lot of things this could be so I'm going for the group think.

I love those things... They transfer the harness on the side of a horse's head. Gag runner I believe.

Drew is correct Todd these are called by a few names gag loop , swivel loop or gag runner. they are used in conjunction with a gag bit to control unruly or horses.

OK Great, I'm clinging to the 1800s by a thread here so glad to hear it. all other finds were clad coins.
Meeting and putting faces to all the names that day was the good part for me.

They are neat I found one a few years ago and had never seen one before and ever since then I seem to see them quite often, nice find Todd!

Todd, my friend found one as well while hunting a colonial home where we dug plenty of nice finds... I'd say it's from the early-mid 1800s
