Went back to my Virgin site last weekend for a couple hours in the tall grass. Only got about 6 ticks and most were on my clothes anyway :happydance01::rofl:
Anyway the hunt was great!
First right off the bat I get a BEAUTIFUL 18th c. skeleton key (missing the circular top :girlcry:) and it's HUGE!!!! It came up in the coin range I thought I was digging a copper or something . I'm still waiting for a coin that dates this site. I KNOW THERE'S ONE OUT THERE!!! after that i worked a ton of areas I hit hard last time... ended up getting a few signals including a couple nice dropped minnie's that came up like cans. I dig every signal in this area (even though there's cans littered everywhere) because I noticed shallow stuff will come up LOUD. Ended up going to the front of where the house was. I hit the left side of the yard which was COMPLETELY TRASHED... I came prepared with the 5x8 Small DD Coil though and weeded through it. Ended up getting a LOT of deep signals that I missed! First I got 5 wheaties in one hole... how in the world did i miss that?!?!? Then I got the most beautiful dropped 3 ringer i've ever seen dug. This spot of the yard has sandier soil I guess. The grey patina (instead of white) was gorgeous. Looked like a non-dug example. After that i zip around a tree and get another bullet signal. It turned out to be a nice 1881 indian. Another date for the collection  then I headed out back really far from the house and was STILL GETTING TARGETS. I got a neat buckle (an expert told me it COULD be confederate as he saw the exact same type in a reference book many years ago; I kinda doubt it but I hope he's right ;) )Ended up digging the BIGGEST FRAGMENT OF A BELL i've ever seen!!!! and then not a few steps later I get a 65 signal, lots of buttons and shotgun headstamps come up that way... I saw a piece of copper wire in the hole... this time it was a J-hook! My first j hook! I hunted for a few more minutes and had to leave (was getting a good signal in a new hot spot i found right when I had to leave :girlcry:) and i went to a new spot for an hour... i spot i've hunted before and it payed off!!! Only two targets that were right next to each other in thick shrubs... first I pulled out a nice dropped minnie and then not a foot away I get the same signal expecting another bullet... i pull out a TOMPION from the tip of an ENFIELD MUSKET!!! Wow!!! Then I took a break and left... can't wait to go back!!!

On Saturday I ended up scouting some sites in my neck of the woods. after about an hour of driving around... i finally got my first permission! a 1780 quaker style house! I literally hunted here for 10 minutes on Saturday... first signal I get is a solid high 80s... it was DEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEp. Almost a foot down. I didn't even scratch it...:shocked02: an 1853 ENFIELD BUTT PLATE!!!!!!! (thanks Luke again for the help!!! Can't wait t see you Saturday!!!) another confederate gun piece... that's #4 rebel gun piece (lock plate, butt plate, purcussion cap, and tompion) in THREE WEEKS!!!!!!!!!!! Only 5 minutes later I got a V Nickel, crispy 1911. :) Can't wait to get back here.... anyway thanks for reading!

HH everyone!!!

This summer once school's out... i'm gonna be posting here a LOT MORE!!!

You are really into the goodies Isaac ! That butt plate is very cool. That is a monster key and that bell would have been heard a long way off. Those rat snakes are docile but big enough to get your attention !

Looking forward to seeing you post more great finds from that site :congrats:

Thanks L.S.! I heard the bell was once called a farm bell and would go off to warn of dinner or in some cases if there was an emergency in the small neighborhood's and crossroad's of the 19th century. https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-Onhh96GpYUA/TY5Nr0i5fAI/AAAAAAAADrA/lxXaR6kt3uk/s400/Farm_bell_2.jpg Can't wait to get back out there this weekend.

Thanks so much Tony! I got very lucky with this site indeed!

Hey thanks Todd! It's a house long gone now, that's now in a farm field, much like the colonial sites you hunt in CT. Can't wait to get back here

Thanks Jim. I haven't had too much time to search it because it's 3 hours away. Luckily it's very easy to go to from the house we stay at. Can't wait to see what else you find in RI

Thanks Dan!!! I'm so blessed to have such an area so rich in history! Let's hope it's some spanish silver considering the age of what I'm finding + the prevalence of spanish coinage in this area of the country. HH
