Just got permission for a 3000+ acre site with at least 4 cellar holes on it. Looking much forward to detecting these sites, but alas, it's a 30 minute drive plus at least a mile hike into the woods, so that will have to happen next week when I have more time. So seeing I only had a few hours or so to detect this past Wednesday evening I made a quick 5 minute drive and 20 minute hike (much better for the knees!) to a cellar hole which has provided me good fortune on two other hunts, and again this time. Nothing earth-shattering, but did manage another axe head, c. 1800 dandy button with floral pattern, a pin which reads "Souvenir" (how ironic!), 1879 IH which has seen better days and some other doo-dads (horse tack, porcelain canning jar top, etc). Thanks for taking a look.

3000 acres!! I bet there are more than four holes in there :) I wonder what that souvenir was.

I wonder as well Drew. I found a similar looking piece shown here, showing attendance at an old bicycle festival known as Wheelman's Day back from around the turn of the century. It's from Ohio though. My find likely went to a similar type of badge or pin, with a center attachment though. Probably not Wheelman's Day though! Likely from other sort of festival or gathering (Exposition, Fair etc). Thanks for taking an interest.

Thanks for the complement. By the way I went to high school in the Dayton area. Fairmont (Kettering, OH) class of '84.

Good advice Dan. Probably the most remote site I've attempted yet.
