Got permission to search a yard of a currently empty house that is thought to be from 1908. I only had an hour so I concentrated on the area around the old path to the front door. In an hour I found a wheat cent, two Indian heads, a 1900 Barber dime (first silver coin!), an 1891 Seated Liberty dime, a Washington state tax token, a couple of costume jewelry pieces, and what I think was a tie tack or cuff link. I also found what I later found out was a hem weight. Needless to say, I'm going back as soon as I have time.

Hey Hey. Silver is always good. I have yet to pull up a barber or a seated. Maybe the spots I have been to have been cherry picked... I am in CT with Todd and Dan and Dave. No pic of at least the tax token?

I usually hunt for sawmill / logging relics, not old houses, so this really was my first silver and first IH. And then two of each!

Holy Moly! Nice finds! Congrats on the silver too. You know, a friend and I went out hunting 2 days ago and he found a logging relic in the water. Turns out it was a hook used to pull logs out of the water. The thing IS MASSIVE iron.

I do have a pic of the token but can't post it for a couple of days. 15 hour work days are interfering quite intensely with my down time.

Here is a pic of the WA state tax token. Used from 1935 to 1951.

Great finds for sure, and definitely head back. Try checking the path from the back door to the old outhouse, if you know where approximately that was. That will surely cough up some more relics. Also check along the area in the side/back yard where you think the old clothes line(s) were. I've found a large percentage of my relics in these locations. Love the tax token by the way.

Nice work Skamaniac! It really feels good to find a spot that hasn't been picked over. I'm with John about getting back to the outhouse and the laundry line. The back of the house is where much of the day to day work of the household happened. Good luck on the return visit.
