how cool has something got to be before it falls into the ubber cool category ?.
i have not posted a lot recently on account i aint been out much ,but today with the cooler weather here in ct i thought i would try a house i got permission for thanks to my new calling cards i got printed.
the house was built in 1827 and is the old salt box type , very quaint with an acre back yard.
after drinking me coffee i began hunting , straight away iron everywhere so i had to really listen for those high tones mixed in with the low grunts of the iron on the At pro.
after a few wheat's and a toasted large cent i get a nice clean 81 in all directions mixed in with nails,i dig down maybe 6 inches and out pops a large disk ?, first im thinking large cent again..."no...its to big, maybe a cloak button ?, nope no shank ?"and then i start to see one of the coolest things ive ever dug begin to appear.
"come and see me...charlie Chaplin in the gold rush Hartford" , well, i just sat back on me bum in the wet grass and gazed at it ,now that's what i call history !!!!.
the gold rush theater at 82 asylum street Hartford got pulled down in 2005 so to have something probably 90 years old from there is, in my mind, ubber cool.
here is some pictures......im over the bloody moon with this !!!!!!

That is a really cool find, Lee! Charlie Chaplin starred in the Gold Rush silent movie in 1925, so it's a safe bet that your token is from that year. I've never seen a token like that.

Awesome! :thumbsup02:

:congrats:

Now that you mention it, I haven't seen many posts of you and getting out with your mate.
Nice find, Lee. Never heard of such a token, but the movie was before many of our times. They were apparently given out at different theaters. Cool tho how it was for Hartford.

Found a reference to a similar Gold Rush token found also metal detecting on the Charlie Chaplin club web site. Finder was asking about what it was worth and a reply was that a similar one sold for 80-90 Pounds (UK) upwards, which translates to about $120-135. In the current condition I would guess a little under that because I think they all had a gold gilt when new.
