guys i just bought a 9 volt charger from harbor freight and bought the only rechargable batteries they sold. when i got home i see that on the charger it only gives a charge time for a 200mAh 9 volt battery and the batteries i bought are only 160mAh . can i sttill charge those batteries in that charger or will it ruin the batteries or charger?

It will only charge to the capacity of the battery-no harm to the battery. The only downside it that the cheap chargers do not have a charge current limit or other more advanced features to condition batteries or prevent battery memory which will shorten their lifespan.

thanks digger. yeah thats what it says you have to turn the charger off after approximate charge time because it does not have a shut off feature on it.

Uh-Oh...I smell a liability suit. That can be dangerous-overheating batteries can be a fire hazard! Personally, I would suggest you return it and buy something at least a little better and safer.

Here's a link to a simple safe charger with 2 batteries under $20: http://www.amazon.com/EBL%C2%AE-Battery-Lithium-ion-Rechargeable-Batteries/dp/B00ER10DZ0/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1444270650&sr=8-3&keywords=9v+battery+charger
