We went back to the field where I had gotten the Indian and the Shield Nickel the day before and was rewarded for years of patience and digging those darn 12-06 to 12-09 signals out in the fields. What are those signals typically, foil, small bits of copper or brass and these so many of these I must have dug hundreds and hundreds of these over the years.

All of us have done that but it does get tempting to pass them by but we don’t or at least we shouldn’t because that signal can be also a nice cuff button or a small gold ring or pin or it can be this:

Yes my first Three Cent Piece and also it is the Nickel version which is a difficult coin to find! After two hours and multiple tooth picks this is how it looks.

Yes it is a small coin but for me a BIG FIRST!

That is a terrific find, Tony. Those things are difficult to find. It cleaned up pretty well considering they are usually toasted, especially when they are found in farm fields.

Congrats on the great bucket list coin! :clapping:

Awesome! Sometimes it pays to be stubborn and keep digging those "foil" signals! I guess sometimes doing the same thing over and over does occasionally produce a different result.

The tedious work with the toothpicks did wonders to the coins final appearance Tony :shocked03::clapping::clapping: well done , and congrats on a very difficult coin to find !!

Great find Tony. I have several really old sites I return to from time to time and you just have to dig all non-ferrous targets as it could be something nice. Good job on the toothpick cleaning. I'm sure your fingers were a tad sore after that tedium!
