Nothing like cool Autumn weather this time of year.

Had a fun day in the woods with Dan. Stop #1 was definitely tough. Picked over and trashy. No shortage of spent ammo either. I managed the large brass tack buckle when we arrived, and the small escutcheon plate not long before we moved along.
Stop #2 on the way back to the vehicle was a cabin site Dan introduced to me in 2014 on our first hunt. Utterly pounded to death, but Dan managed a copper!

Stop #3 is where I finally got traction. An assortment of buttons and button backs, thimble, small hook (for drapes maybe?), a huge buckle tongue, roundish lump of lead, and my What Is It item which was my last dig of the day as the sun was settling behind the hills.

Congrats on another week with copper Dan, and thanks for a fun day in the woods!

nice job at toughing it out at pounded and trashy sites.those button backs are early colonial 2 piecers.I think the gas got trapped inside when they brazed em and never held up well.

That last thing is a head scratcher
The thimble looks to be in good shape. Congrats Brian!

Dan mentioned my huge blob of pewter having a hook on it. I wonder if your whatsit could have something to do with a scabbard....

Nice job pulling some keepers from the trash Brian. Really nice old thimble for sure. As a side note I've found similar rounded cylinder-like lead structures from time to time. I wonder if they came in cylindrical-type sticks that way and folks "trimmed" them to their specific needs.

Even a bunch of "partifacts" makes for a satisfying day!
