On my way to work one day last week I noticed that in one of my favorite fields the corn had been cut...:yahoo:

Today I went there and got a few keepers.

The IH is 1889 with a nice green patina. The LC has no date or lettering that I can see. What I can see is the head which I am thinking is a Coronet type. On the reverse all I can see is the wreath. Please notice that I said "thinking" about the LC being a Coronet, let me know what you think it is.

The buttons, one flat and two colonials. The flat button as treble gilt and stand colour on the back. One of the colonials has a nice design around the edge.

Two more coins for the signature.

Thanks for reading and HH everybody.

Nice IH and button. A legible backmark there. Yes that is a Matron LC. A large flat button, a single piece button, and the LC is a bit toasty. I'd put it in the early years of the matron series. My 1818 and 1820 were good enough to get dates. The 1839 and later are often better shape. I'd put yours in between those dates based upon empirical evidence.

Agree with Dan. Always a plus when you can at least ID the type!
