Met up with Aaron (hockeyguy) yesterday afternoon and off to the fairgrounds we went.. however the actual grounds were locked up so we did entrances and other exterior hunting.
Ended up with nearly $5 in clad, along with 1886 IH, 1947 silver rosie & a nice silver pendant.

Mmm... imagine what's inside!
What kind of stone is that?

My wife total me what she thought it was.. but I can't remember.. how typical..
Aaron and I have worked the inside before and both have found Mercs and rosies near where they keep the livestock

Is there an old horse race track there? Ever find anything in that area?

Yep, there an old horsetrack, we do have plans working that area.
The current fairgrounds have been there since the late 1800s. I would love to work the OLD fairgrounds area if I can get permission as that fairgrounds started there in 1842.

Great finds! I have a similar fairground back in Iowa that has produced too. They are fun :) I like that pendant! I too was going to ask what the stone is. Must be a gender thing lol

Auuhhh, my wife reminded me .. she thinks its an Amber stone.. it has something inside but just can't make it out.

Epi, you're from Iowa? I'm originally from Nebraska..

Great digs. Amber or agate. If it has an insect inside it, then it's amber.

Nice group finds. I definitely would be looking to hit the inside of the fairground. You should be able to pick up some more great stuff.

I have a funny feeling the Fairgrounds are locked up for the season, BUT, I'm heading back over there this afternoon.. I just have one spot I hope it accessible.. I have a good feeling about.. We'll see..
though, I have to say, (and Hockeyguy can contest to) if someone just wanted to clad hunt.. there is Mucho clad.. just between Aaron and I yesterday in 2 hours picked up $7 in clad quarters

Yep... ditto. lol If there is an insect, plant debris, etc... in it, it's petrified Pine sap for sure lol. If it's not, then maybe Carnellian or some other river agate. Great looking pendant!

Great looking finds, and that clad should help with the gas to drive there. Hope you get inside the gate soon!
