Hope you all enjoy-Merry Christmas!

Twas the morning of Christmas day at our house.
Not a reveler was stirring, not even the spouse.
The stockings were hung by the chimney without a care,
Full of batteries-all that we could spare.

The children are grown and away in their own beds,
with visions of work the next day in their heads.
Call up on the phone to wake them asap.
It’s a wonderful day to detect-no time to nap!

Soon out on the drive there was such a clatter,
I sprang from my chair to see what was the matter.
To the window I flew in a mad dash,
In my excitement I almost did crash!

The dawn was beginning to show the light,
I could see that it was no longer night.
I look out on the yard to the left and to the right
The kids parked on the lawn, they must have had a rough night!

I rush out the door into the yard.
I arrive at the truck panting hard.
The children ask “What is the rush?”
I have to answer them in a hush:
SANTA BROUGHT ME A NEW MACHINE!

I load the machine into the truck and we slowly back out.
I begin to worry the wife will pout.
I let her know I’m out detecting with the boys by text
She will likely roll her eyes and ask “What next?!”

Out to the forest we begin to roll,
Searching for a new cellar hole.
This will be a great day with the boys,
There is no better way to test the new toys!

Once we arrive we put coil to ground,
This virgin site we will pound!
But for a while there is nary a beep,
But what could be wrong, I know this thing runs deep!

But soon we spy a dip on the hill
We work out way over but the woods are still.
Suddenly I hear a sound and stop in my tracks,
Nothing is moving other than the flapping of my slacks.

The leaves are dry and couldn’t be crisper,
But out of my phones I heard a whisper!
I begin to dig down with zeal and glee
Dirt flying far as I can see!

Deeper than I ever dug before, I think I have a well.
But in a moment I say “Oh Hell!”
I came in close with the chopper,
But I managed to find a Birch copper!

Soon the phone rang, I knew who.
The wife asking “where are you?”
I knew I had to answer:
Her holiday spirit was like a cancer.

Come home now, mother is about to arrive!
Luckily it was not too far to drive.
So it was heading home with the boys
That I realized we all must have out joys.

Awesome Chris. Put this up on the refridgerator (minus the wife wondering parts). She doesn't need to know about that.

Merry Christmas!
