We got a bit of warm up so we decided to get out for a hunt at a few of our sites. We found that the ground was still frozen but did not let that deter us. The first site was one we have hunted before and I made the only good find a post CW Eagle button. We then moved on to another that only gave up a couple of buttons. Then we moved on to a site that was on an early 1900’s map, we did not find the main area at first but were surprised when our friend Bill Clark scored a Large Cent! I later found a nice pocket knife with an Art Deco motif on the handle. We then found the main site and the signals were plentiful mostly relics. Bill is the friend that had invited us out to his field where I found the Capped Bust Half so I was pleased that he got the Large Cent and even more so when he got a really crusty Shield nickel he later followed that up with an Indian Head and a beautiful Eagle Button which too was post CW. I found two Wheat Cents a 1913 and 1917. Diane found some really interesting relics including a dial switch plate for an old radio. Here are some pics from that hunt; Bill’s finds can be seen in the video.

That evening it rained and got even warmer and looking at the forecast for snow and single digit temperatures I went back out to an adjoining site next to this last one we hunted. It was very sloppy muddy and quite difficult to walk in as the mud clung to my boots making them heavy, my coil got heavy too and I would have to stop and wipe it off. I could only cover a part of this site due to the conditions but will go back again as it shows some promise. The only coin I found was a 1939 Jefferson Nickel but I am sure there is more there. I did find some very nice relics.

Sweet looking relics spanning a LOT of years! I have never seen a telephone bell textured like that before, pretty neat! Too bad someone used it as a target. Well done despite the mud! :congrats:

Nice assortment of finds and good to see you could still make it out this time of year. Love the pocket knife, and with a little cleaning you should have a beauty there.
