Hey all. I thought I would give water detecting a shot this year. I just picked up the White's Surfmaster PI Dual Field from a local dealer. I have a sand scoop that I bought (very cheaply) from Thiltzy (Todd) a few years back. It is of the smaller variety and I think may be too difficult to extract targets IN the water. Any recommendations from the veteran water hunters would be appreciated.

I would go with a good heavy stainless. Cost about $90 and up, but worth it.

I have a Stealth 720i from Sunspot. It's hard to beat!

Thanks for the recommendations. I ended up getting the T-Rex 9.5" wide version. Hope to test it & the Surfmaster out this weekend.

depends what kind of hunting you are doing. Where I live is surrounded by freshwater lakes and rivers where river rock is common. I made the mistake of buying cheap over quality and it broke after 3 hunts. I ended up with the T-Rex 9.5 wide. That scoop is sturdy as hell! Just make sure you get a raptor grip because its heavy. Definatly wouldn't recommend that scoop for dry sand.
