my son found this at a old farmhouse looks like some kind of sundial or something any ideas

That looks familiar. Wasn't that a pendant they kept cremated remains in? I recall someone finding something like this last year.

That is an Orphan Annie sundial with compass. It was an Ovaltine premium from 1939.
