Cellar Hole Hunting

It was another button filled day! I returned to the virgin site from last weekend and ended up getting 12 more buttons. The next site we went to was definitely hit, but I was able to pull a cut 1818 Matron Head Large Cent right on the lip, a beautiful gold gilt button on the lip as well, and an awesome cufflink with what looks like a fife player on it. And our final stop of the day turned out to be the best for me. About five minutes in I got a crisp 83 signal at six inches and it turned out to be an 1812 Classic Head Large Cent! All in all it was a great day!

Personally I like the detail on the 1818 better than just the back on the 1812. The gilt still left on the back of that button is pretty nice too. All in all sounds like a sweet hunt.

1776-84 MASSACHUSETTS STYLE SWORD IN HAND CUFF LINKS-GWI 19
Robert's Notes: This is a rare example of a dress cuff link that pays tribute to the patriots who are fighting in the American Revolution. The button is reminiscent to Massachusetts sword buttons or Paul Revere's Sword in hand colonial currency. This was probably made sometime during the American Revolution for a patriot. There are at least three or four dug specimen I know of. The button's pattern depicts a patriot sitting on a cannon with a sword in his right hand. It appears his body is in a position showing himself as getting ready to charge.
