These ubiquitous buildings are town owned and can have large lawns. Anyone hunt them?

Where i'm located most town halls are very new. The one in my town is maybe 10 years old. The previous one was actually a shared building with the library, which had no lawn. We only have one old park in the area (1870's or so), and that's the one they decided to tear up and build the new seperated library and town hall on. Go figure.
I only know of one other old town hall in the area, and of course it's the one town that strictly bans detecting.

I haven't quite. Yup I know they are town prop just like a few of the old libraries I have seen. One town hall now sits on the prop of an old HS. I mean HS in 1868. Building is early 1900s or late 1800s. Closest I came to your scenario is one building that was an old school that is now used for the board of ed. Might be a fine line depending on the town cuz I know a few town halls also have the police station as well.
