I had a much anticipated couple hour hunt today in a field where they finally cut the beans this week. I didn't find any coins or anything really great, but this was my first trip here and it was a beautiful day!

Couple goodies anyway. Seems they are harvesting late this year. Had about the same such items in the bean field I just hunted. Hope the weather holds a while yet.

Just curious Darren do you have a set strategy when doing a large new field or just wonder around for targets ?

Nice buckle. It has an interesting shape. I wonder what that piece is that looks like a slug. One of those came up in a field I was at recently and it looked like an oil burner jet and it's like wth is it doing here?

See what happens when you don't hunt sidewalk tear ups, nuttin but junk, LOL! Looks like a nice spot that will yield up some goodies as you work it.

Strategy depends on the site and the available research resources. This particular site had an 1870's house and that area is waist high grass. In this case I think there was a 1840-50's home site somewhere in the field but did not find it.

Research is key and will dictate just where you lower your coil. I hope you can get into that high grass area .

Always good to pull and older buckle out of the ground, so at least you found something. Good luck in finding that other homesite.
