My son got me this coin thinking it was an 8 reales. Turns out it's a French Ecu, with a V mint mark. Does anyone know where the French V mint was? Thanks!

Pretty nice gift and a big chunk of silver! The mint mark of "V" is Troyes according to this book entry.

Nice gift, Drew. It is almost the size of an 8R. I bought one roman coin online cuz I know the chances of finding one are quite slim.
