Tornados hit the area last night between 10pm and midnight. I was fortunate that there was no damage at my house but the area where I work was hit hard. All the pictures were taken within two blocks at the edge of one area that received major damage. I couldn't get into the worst hit areas. If you click on the picture it will take you to my photobucket album where you can see more if you so desire. There is one picture that stands out to me, can you guess which one?

That's some scary stuff. A couple of years ago we had a twister come through a small town just west of us (Fairdale). At the time I was working at one of the landfills just west of Fairdale. All of the debris and wreckage came to us. Each dump truck came 3 or 4 times a day for over a month! Pretty sad and overwhelming at the same time. I had to detour around the small town for months as they cleaned up the mess.

That is the picture. We have a lot of clean up ahead and several thousand people are without power or worse, homes! The local hospital is running on emergency generators. The one storm cut a swath through the center of town. Over 100 utility poles were destroyed and hundreds and hundreds of huge oak trees have been downed.

Yow. Sorry to see that. Not a good way to start the year.

The official report states that it was not a tornado that did this damage but straight line winds in excess of 85mph. They lasted about 20 minutes and did over 30 million in insured damages. The FEMA inspectors said they have never seen as much damage and debris. It was even worse than hurricane Matthew. Here is one more picture taken 10 days after.

Sheesh! Looks like it was really bad and spring is around the corner. Been very warm this winter which make me think it's going to be a very active tornado season. Be safe out there!

Hurricane always cause devastation. Coming up from the damages caused to the property can be very expensive. I read about a blog on the internet (http://stormguardwindowanddoor.com/miami-impact-windows-doors/) where many people choose to go with the installation of impact doors Miami. They say that this keeps their house safe during the hurricanes. Upon checking about them, I am also thinking to go with this. This will keep my property safe during the harsh weather conditions.
