It got up to 69 degrees here yesterday and I got out for about 3 hours. I went back to the school yard where there are lots of targets but the soil is tough on the coins.

Nothing to write home about, but I found 2 Indian Heads, 4 Wheat Cents and a 1935 Mercury Dime to avoid the Silverless Drive Home of Shame.

I am mystified by this round object. It has reeds on it like a pump organ or squeeze box reed, but I've never seen a round one before. Weird.

Nice haul Tony. You're right, that soil is rough on those Indians. But still, great job!
Nice little Tax token as well.
It's even warmer today so I hope you're out swinging and digging more!

It looks like the insides of a pitch pipe, Tony. We used to use them for tuning violins, timpani etc. Probably a violin pipe as it has four notes. Love the token!

Cool finds, maybe a reed from an old round pitch pipe?

69 degrees.....you lucky dog. I got to shovel snow..... Congrats on the finds and I have to agree, the soil is pretty tough on coins.

You may love your job, but any digging is better than work. Lol. Even better when you nab a few finds. I'd like to find more tokens. Yours is neat being square. At least it's not too hard to find someone with some knowledge on the subject.... Drew was able to ID that item (as well as Milco to back it up).

Even if hadn't found anything at all, it would've been better than being at work.
So I guess you could say you had a wonderful day. Or a splendid day! Plus no SDHOS. :thumbsup02:
Congrats!!
