I have not been much into metal detecting for about a year or so. But, lately I have really been wanting to get back out, but I am trying to wait for fall to get here because it is not fun hunting when it is 95 degrees or more outside. Today was unusually cool due to rain yesterday, so I decided to metal detect in my yard a bit.

I have found several wheaties and 1 silver rosie in my yard, but I never expected this! A 1940 Walking Liberty Half in awesome condition! The scan does not do justice to this coin! It is brilliant! There are 2 large maple trees between my house and the neighbor's house from an old cabin that stood there up until 1960 or so. I found the half near these trees. This is my 2nd Walking liberty half, the other coming from another old homesite within walking distance of my house. This just goes to show, you don't have to go too far to dig great things!

It was very shallow. Probably no more than 2(which is making me wonder if it was a more recent drop).

Thanks, everyone!
