We went up to Wisconsin to visit with the family for Easter a couple of weekends ago. While everyone else was eating I grabbed the Etrac and snuck off to the sports camp for a while. I managed a couple of wheats. As the Wisconsin state bird, the mosquitos, were pumping me dry I started to head back to the gathering. I got a nice deep sounding 12-41@ 5 inches. Figuring it was another wheatie. I started to dig. Around the 10 inch mark I got a hit on the pinpointer :shocked05: A couple more inches of dirt and out comes a big coin!:shocked01:
Turns out to be my first Canadian bank token!:yahoo:

It's a 1844 Bank of Montreal half penny bank token.

I'm happy to have this one! Now my only question is, does this count towards the yearly LC tally?

Thanks for lookin and HH! :peace:

That token is sure in good shape Tim !:cheering:For the record it would count in my book because its as big as a large cent and it dates to before the end of the large pennies !:thumbsup02: Congrats

WOW!!! Excellent find Tim!! :notworthy::perfect10:

Thanks guys!:notworthy:
It looks great now!:yes: It didn't look like that when it first came out of the ground. It had a very stubborn layer of scum on it. It took 4 CLR baths to get it to this state. And as you can see there are still a few trouble spots. But those will be staying. :lol: I think it looks good, and it seems, so far, that the general consensus agrees :thumbsup02:

As the mosquitoes are sucking you dry, your sucking the ground dry. Nice find and congrats. It counts....:thumbsup02:

Wow Tim, that 1844 Half Penny Bank Token is wonderful find! It is in great condition with very little wear. Super old!

I found one of those back in 2014 when I was detecting with DaddyDigger in Scottville, IL. Yours is in much better shape than mine.
