Apparently my coil is becoming a hoover for coppers. The weekend after the spill was the DB, and the following weekend was a matron. Last night was another copper.

I went to a busy spot that I knew once had an house on it. I got lucky the assessor still had a build date for the house, even though it was torn down. Inclined me to hunt there. Well, despite the luck, I have had some minor adverse conditions/situations. First my Z-lynk was dead. I thought there'd be enough charge for a few hour hunt. Nope. Then I tried the BT setup as a backup. It wasn't used in so long that it too was dead. ugh. Then I forgot to grab the gloves from the car after being back there twice. I still managed despite also being near a busy road. The one other issue was that the place was a tad trashy. Trashy as in a junction box cover was on the top of the ground and a shotgun shell was the first thing I dug. At an open space where a house was?? On a parcel near the main road and a nearby school?? Iron went from heavy at 4-6" depth to overload size on the surface to sporadic. First I tried near the fringes: the overlooked spots. Then I made it near some flowering bushes. And wouldn't ya know it? Right on the surface was an FFA award. I did think it was a zincoln, but was pleasantly surprised. No idea on age, but it is after 1928. I didn't research much beyond when the FFA was started.

After a few iffy and deep iron targets I made it back near where I started out. But I was a bit more thorough near this big oak. Caught it just right and pulled another copper. It was pretty deep too. The machine said either 6.5 or 7". It might have been a bit deeper; I didn't measure it. Just a copper is larger than a quarter, therefore it is actually deeper than the machine 'sees' it at. The VDI wasn't always there, but the tone was. Turns out this is my first counter-stamped coin. The reverse def says CAST-S, kinda near where it says the ONE CENT. That's how I know it is either a DB or a matron having the ONE CENT in the middle. Not only is the reverse counter-stamped. There is a different one on the front. This one is iffy and I think it says STEEL. This gives an average of 3/wk for the last 3 weeks. The short vid ended up on the bookface.

This is oriented the way you'd see the ONE CENT. It was def visible in the screen before the camera took the pic. IDK. But it is still slightly visible in the pic.

I walked over to the school to give it a try. That is where all the dang zincs came from. Some times deeper wheats or IH can sound like zinc pennies (granted many were 2-3" only...but I dug them anyway). I did get a 1920's wheat (25, 26 or 28?) The soccer award was on the surface. The bangle/bracelet was pretty much on the surface. It was weird how the older trees by the school near the road didn't have anything near them. It was an older area. And it was also weird how in front of the goal on the farther side had more targets than the closer goal, where kids were still playing. I had to wait for them to leave to try the area. However, right in the middle by the pocket was a coin. It nearly gave me a heart attack thinking I got a gold coin. But kronor are some sort of aluminum-tin mix. Gahh. Still a cool find. The bangle has a black inlay on the top. Idk if it is stone (onxy if so) or not.

9 coppers in less than 3 weeks! Wow! If you count 2 cents I have about 10-12 total for my 6 years of detecting! But I have a few things that I see are still on your wish list...just funny how some people "specialize" in certain finds. I think I specialize in Wheaties!

Congrats on the streak!

Nice haul Jim! Your streak certainly tops my 3 Draped Bust LCs in a month last summer! Have yet to find a counterstamped copper. Just seem to be pulling IHs at the current moment.

Thanks, Buck. I don't even have any 2 centers. But I am up now near 32 1/2 LC in 3-4yrs detecting. (not including the two farthings). I know I been finding them continually here and there, but there is a surge lately. It is true as you said. There have been three times where 1/2R have been pulled at a place I was at, two of the times when I was there with the person. But those are small targets... I know its the SLQ and the capped bust that you got from my list. I have to hunt more permissions and that means more people need to say yes. And I need to try harder for those. Cellars just don't survive until the time with SLQ, and it seems that more silver are found at the standing houses that old. I believe part of it is that people have hit some cellars before, but there are some that people couldnt't find until certain technology came about. The other factor I think is that these families were poorer then, so that's why the houses and land never survived any of the hard times in history. The standing ones, did.
Oh, and if you look at the pic, it seems I specialize in zincolns when it comes to parks.

Thanks, John. Not competing here. :pirate: It is odd that the counter stamping isn't that prevalent. But then again, neither was the holed coins. Out of those 32 coppers, only one was holed? Crazy to think about. We're the other 31 in cloth pouches? There's nothing wrong with pulling IH. They are a good coin. I thought it was surprising when a buddy pulled a barber quarter and I got an IH at the same cellar. When I got home, both he and my gf said they'd rather the IH than the silver barber? :dontknow: Good luck, tho. You'll get one eventually. Persistence.

Thanks, Al. What, there's no quitting? Haha. Luckily this isn't like gambling on at the casino or on a game show where if you continue, you lose it all. I'll keep it up. (Am I making those Illinois boys jelly, yet?).

Congrats on your copper's.

Thanks, Bri.

You are on a roll!

That I am, Donnie. Thanks.
