Hi all,
HUNT 1-Last Thurs I met up with Al at a nice looking park (2nd pic is Al, who should change his name to Alyoungstuff btw). Tough going, but I dug a nice looking IH. After an hour I saw the town maintenance guy drive up and start talking to Al. Al called me over...I turned off my machine as I thought we were getting the boot....little did I know the guy offered us to hunt the 1870s church and school house across the street! :loveit: We hunted another hour (I pulled a wheat) before I got an emergency family call, the first of many this week :(....but one hospital visit this week produced my grandson!!:happydance02:

It was great to hunt with Al and hope we do it again soon!

HUNT 2-The beginning of this week I snuck in a sunrise hunt at another park. I was KILLING IT!! I can't remember the details but there were mercs, IHs, token, silver earring, dog tag etc involved (see pic ). Then after a short time I GOT THE BOOT! Some guy stopped and asked if I had permission He said I should leave and I did. Such a drag....I wish I asked him in what capacity he was asking me to leave....a concerned citizen?

HUNT 3- This AM it was back to cellar hole basics. I dug a few buttons, 2 super old thimbles, sweet knee buckle, and this 25mm coin. It rang up really low (72 out of the ground) for a copper. Any idea what it is? THANKS!
EDIT- HUNT 4- Found the 1722 Rosa this morning!

Drew, hope everything turned out ok with that call. Yup it was a nice hunt, old green, new money. Drew got the keepers with his IH and wheat. Nice park finds at hunt #2. Is that a pile of IH's I see. That copper looks to be facing right and the letters on the right look like to many to be REX. So what I'm trying to say is I have no idea what it is but nice find....:thumbsup02:

That coin looks to be a farthing I think. Sweet little buckle!

Great pictures Drew ! I love the old knee buckle and the copper is one of two coins . Its either a William the III 1696 to 1702 or its a Connecticut copper 1785 to 1788 , the coin is pretty dirty so its a bit hard to tell which it is although I'm leaning toward the William .

Thanks Guys!! Do you think the 1st coin could be something like these? They are the same odd diameter, 25mm. Dan, the CT coppers are all bigger...maybe the William the 3rd but I can't find one that matches.

Drew there are three denominations for Rosa Americana coins (half pence , pence and two pence ) is yours about the size of a king George half penny or noticeably bigger ?

Dan, This coin is 26mm. So I guess it's a pence.

Awesome finds especially that Rosa. Never seen one dug before that I can remember anyway. So much great detail left on that coin!

That 1722 Rosa Americana is outstanding, Drew! It still has amazing detail on it. What a terrific find! :wow:

Soon to be 300 years old, and you saved it from being lost forever. Awesome!

:congrats:

Grats on the Rosa and the buckle, Druzy....the IH didn't get a mention. I think Dan also means that the Rosa aren't always that clean. The ones I see on eBay were either uncirculated with no wear, or one dug which had almost no detail left.
