Sterling Ring and Penny hoard hole

I got out to the lake on Friday and had a hole with 70 cents in it!!!! I can't think of a way that many pennies would end up in one spot like that!!! One 1951 d wheat in the group

That penny hole is strange. I've seen similar on land from either kids playing, a lost coin purse or even a change jar. But no idea why it would be in a lake.
Very nice sterling ring. Can't see the marks to indicate age though. Congrats on a nice hunt!

If the pennies were in the sand it was probably a coin search setup for kids. I have found a few over the years. One was pennies and the others was all quarters and a $1 coin
