View Full Version : It only takes one swing to salvage a hunt...

I got up and out before work this morning for another sunrise hunt. Nothing to show other than some clad and a wheat penny dated 1909... I think. It's pretty worn. It doesn't appear to have an S or VDB.

Packed up and went home. With about 20 minutes left before I had to start getting ready for work, I turned on the machine and headed for the back door swinging away. I got kind of a weird bouncy signal and thought... might as well see what this is. Out popped 2 buffs, a war nickel and a silver roosevelt from the same hole. As you can see, the war nickel and one of the buffs were stuck together....my morning hunt was successful because of that hole.... of course I enjoy just getting out, but a good find always makes the hunt complete for me.

The coin spill dates are buffs = 1919 and 1935, war nickel = 1943P, dime = 1948. The quarter I found on my previous 'sunrise' hunt earlier this week.

Sweet spill! Not sure what you're swinging but on my Minelabs spills tend to ring up all over the place, especially when in a combination of nickels and quarters or dimes.

Nice little surprise :clapping: Something about multiple coins in a hole that makes you day. I love hearing another coin in the hole when I thought it was empty. Congrats on a nice spill.

Great finds!! And a good point about how it only takes one swing to turn an unproductive hunt into a great one. That's what keeps me addicted to the hobby!

Those buffalo nickels held up quite well, and with dates too. Sweet coin spill.

Very cool how they were stuck together! I've found clad stuck together, but never coins nearly 100 yrs old...

Congrats on a great week of hunting :) So are you headed out tomorrow on another sunrise hunt?
