Hi all,
Got out to 5 different lakes today without much to show. The first one I had high hopes for but only found someone else detecting the water. Not even a penny there. Most of the lakes were the same.
But, the 4th lake was the one I needed to hit. It was tough with a lot of natural iron on the bottom, plus a mostly large stone base. But I started finding several buckles in the water just off the beach. Figured it was a great sign. Along one edge of the swim area I got a typical foil signal, a 12-03. Figured I would dig it anyway since it was nice and consistent from every angle. Surprised the heck out of me when I say that shiny gold color! It's 14k, and the ruby tests real.
I also picked up a junker ring there that has hallmarks in it. I can see the 18K, so must have been plated. As usual the toy car was a screamer, and that stainless washer got me good. I was sure it was gold too. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170918/1ae051b2ee0d93e4058b4e255efd51a3.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170918/991bec19f3c50f239f0e3e6a08ff3b0a.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170918/647f4cb400a4c2155047df82fa558a81.jpg

Grats on the gold, Chris. For a sec I was confused as the ring had the 14k mark.... The big washer just overshadowed the junker ring that I didn't spot it right away. I swear I am good at those where's Waldo puzzles.

Never mind found the post. great find on the gold ring. I had high hopes of water hunting this year but it is a trickier adventure then I thought. next year. Congrats WD

That is a pretty ring! Gold is a great motivator to get back out and detect some more.

Yes it is! That's why I put up with my leaking waders, rocks that can break legs, zebra mussels that can slice you like a razor, and driving 150 plus miles round trip to hunt as many lakes as time permits. Ok, maybe it takes a degree of insanity too? :hystericallaugh: Really, it's all worth it when the shiny appears!

Here's a photo of the ring on the scale. As you can see, it's tiny!
