Hey Diggers!

What an epic hunt we had today! And what a great way to end the year. Digger Don & Noah were kind enough to invite me to meet them at their little honey hole from last weekend. I drove 3 1/2 hours to get there and boy was it worth it! I got a WONDERFUL bucket list item (a silver thimble) that has eluded me for 8 years. We pulled 19 silvers between all 3 of us and only hunted 4 yards! There were indian cents, buffalo nickels, V nickels, a grand slam, and 2 silver spoons among the great finds!

I also got my first ever grand slam in dimes!

I think the silver thimble must be very special. It is hand-engraved with a nautical scene and has a 67 and anchor also. I'm hoping it means it is dated 1867! What do you think? (especially Del!)

Here's some pics, thanks for looking and HH, Dave.

One heck of a day to end the year! That thimble is spectacular. Maybe related to great lakes shipping? Cant believe all the silver you got, plus the grand slam. Well done! Wish my 3.5 hour drives were like that.

Congrats, Congrats!
First silver thimble! Welcome to the club!
First grand slam of dimes! Welcome to the club!
Plus more silver coins and a complete silver spoon!
I can't wait to join that club. I've never found a whole silver spoon. I've found a silver spoon handle, I've found a silver spoon bowl, but never a complete silver utensil.
Stellar day Dave! :congrats:

Mind blowing hunt, Dave! The grand slam is good, the silver spoon is great, but the Sterling thimble is INCREDIBLE! The engraving on it is wonderful. Such a cool find!

Is that the most silver you've found in one hunt?

:congrats:

Tony, it ties a record from 2012. Oddly enough I got 11 silver dimes that day also!

I walked right over that thimble too. But I guess I was too busy picking off all the Indians to notice. Glad you had a great day and glad I was there to witness it! :notworthy:

My spoon for the day was older though, but so mangled I'm embarrassed to post it!
