Finally got out for about 30 minutes before work tonight at the old zoo. Most of the snow is gone and the ground is soft enough to dig. I went over an area I've been before looking for those faint signals and it paid off in 2 silvers! Not bad for a half hour in my opinion!https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180312/d263663e23c226b6caa03d8bf2a79cd1.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180312/bc9030c6a5c03b95ebe7c9def256c267.jpg

Congrats on the silver. Hit 4 places today and only 1 had thawed ground. Seems you have to be south of HWY 60 to find diggable ground. Nice job on the short hunt. WD

That Zoo has been good to you! Great way to spend a 1/2 hr!

Thanks! Yes, the zoo has been pretty good, though it's tough. The place is HUGE, the trash can be horrific, and the coin finds spotty. Even though I can't for the life of me find one of the old zoo maps to find out where everything once stood, I think I now have a pretty good idea from the patterns of coins and hardware where the enclosures were as opposed to concessions stands. Vintage post cards show a big open grassy area where families had their picnics. Still trying to find that area, but I suspect it's the area they later paved for bandshell seating.

That's pretty good! I figure if I get 1 silver an hour I'm having a great day. Best wishes and HH, Dave.
