Digger Don

I haven't been able to get out for a few weeks, so yesterday I decided to go out for just a few hours. I'm so glad I did!!
I still can't drive, so Noah drove us out to one my favorite old towns. We got a yes at the very first house and only 5 minutes in I hit a spill, an Indian and two Rosies. From there it just kept getting better, my next coin was a very worn seated dime. I'm pretty sure it's an 1875. Then after digging 3 more Indians I hit another seated dime, this time an 1887. Wow, two in one hunt is a first for me. Then, after three more indians get a deep high tone. After digging down about nine inches, there it was, my first ever seated quarter, an 1853 with arrows.
The only other good signal I got before we left ended up being a silver thimble. I can't see a stamp but it is definitely silver. It also appears to have turquoise inlaid along the bottom rim.
Thanks for looking!

I AM SO HAPPY FOR YOUR DON! I think the seated quarter design with the rays on the back is the best one of the series. That thimble saw a lot of use in its life. Look how worn it is! Is there a maker's mark on the inside by any chance? Congrats on a banner day! Now that your eye is fixed I think your mojo is back in full force. Best wishes and HH, Dave. p.s. was there really a spill with 2 rosies and an indian? That's crazy!

Incredible, Don! Why did you leave after a couple hours? Was there more area to detect? I'm glad your eye is better...your eye for a good detecting house never faltered :)
Keep it up!

Don, you had your eye on the prize......great hunt. I myself would have been happy with just the IH's.

A IH and 2 Rosies? That's weird!

One of the best hunts ever!!! :wow:

You really knocked it out of the park, Don! The silver thimble is wonderful, but the Seated Quarter is incredible! I agree with Dave, the Seated Quarter with arrows and rays is by far the most beautiful of the series. It is very unusual to find a quarter that is 165 years old in these parts. AMAZING!

Three seated coins in one hunt is very rare indeed. I've never done it. THAT WAS ONE SPECTACULAR YARD! :shocked04:

Huge congrats! :notworthy:
