Hello all!

Cawabunga was is bloody hot outside or what yesterday... My dash read 99, and the bank I passed said 100.. but I was going 'tectin...

I had to be in Boston yesterday and decided to stop in a small town on the way back... on the way there I passed a small spot that looked good... hit a fast food place to change clothes...

Video for this hunt:

Dirt Fishing (Metal Detecting) in Connecticut - Sept 2, 2010 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p0_WqZEIr1E#)

2 minutes into the hunt... Sweet silver sound... 1947 Washington...

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v492/FooserPaul/MD2010/Sept/2nd/9210_1947Washington.jpg

It wasn't 5-6 minutes later... when I got a 12/35 @ 6 and I was thinking, trashed zincoln, wheaty (some deeper ones come in as low as 32 for me), Indiah, or *shrug*

Ended up being a large copper... about half penny sized... 1861 New Brunswick One Cent...

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v492/FooserPaul/MD2010/Sept/2nd/9210_1861NBCoppa.jpg

Next out was another 12/35... but this one was the classic... 1904 Indian Head Penny...

Next out was some sweet but iffy sounds of 12/45 @ 6 in some think roots... 1928 Mercury Dime...

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v492/FooserPaul/MD2010/Sept/2nd/9210_1928Merc.jpg

This as well was a 12/34 12/35 @ 6... but is... *idontknow*

I had a little longer to hunt when I gentleman came over and was telling me about older pictures depicting wash lines on this spot I was hunting... We chatted for a few and he told me this property was once attached to the house he walked from just across the road... build in 1667 and had been in his wife family all along and that I was welcome to come over and look around... We I did get a little time there...

This token was not very deep... from that location... ** Anyone have any ideas on date range?? **

I did get a nice quarter signal and about 5 down... up came a large old pocket watch... There was a design in the cover and the back needed some cleaned as the years had left it encrusted... I left the watch with the owners as it certainly was history for them and possible belong to a relative... I gave them some basic cleaning instruction and left my website and Email so they could send me over a picture... I do have a short video of me recovering the target...

I had a really lovely chat with them about the property, their family, and some of the history... I was invited to come back to continue my search...

I need to spend some more thime at the original location as the targets I recovered suggest there are more goodies there...

HH ALL!

Hey Paul, you had a nice little hunt despite the 100 degree weather  Nice New Brunswick Cent, Merc and Indian. That token is from September 16, 1915, when the Commercial Trust Company opened it's doors on 193 Bowers Street, Springfield, MA. I Googled it and finally came up with this web site, but you have to join it to see the text and pictures.

Luckily when I Googled Commercial Trust Company Springfield, Mass, (around page 2) it showed enough of that info in the intro before I clicked onto that useless site lol. Actually it's probably a good site, I just don't want to join it to see the pictures or text. :ticked: Hope this helps you date your token. Nice bunch of finds! :clapping:

George, thank you! Someone on TNet suggested that shiny bent over metal object was a folded over silver spoon bowl <<

Your welcome Paul. That bent item sure looks silver, but it doesn't read like silver  So I'm not sure if its a mix of silver and something else. I'm not sure on the spoon part? If it was a part of a silver spoon, then it should read 12-46 or similar. Maybe because it's thin it reads lower.

George,

Did you see in my 2 video's last week the smaller sterling items... Pendant and ear ring that rang our like zinc penny... 12/35's... *shrug* or perhaps it is much lower silver content ??

I plan on coming up to this meeting this month... you can take a look see...

I watched your vids, but don't remember the pendant and earring. The quantity (weight) and surface area is what determins the numbers. If the were smaller, or not completely solid, then they should read 12-35 even if they are Sterling. The piece you had, looked large and folded over, and it must have some weight to it. Because of that, I figured it should read high @ 12-45 or 46. Stop me at the meeting and let me take a look at it. You have been tearing it up lately :clapping:
