Finally managed to get out Saturday with Don and Noah when they made the drive up here to Wisconsin to do some door knocking. The town they picked has a lot of history back to the log cabin days.
Noah worked his magic and got us some great permissions including the historic Fargo mansion dating to the first half of the 1800s. According to the owner, it's been hunted once before in the 70 years he's lived there, but there was plenty left for us.
Here I picked up a couple nice crackerjack toys, an enameled pin, and a pewter whistle. The whistle it turns out is a very rare civil war signal whistle! It's missing the pea as is expected after being buried for probably 100 plus years, but still works. Tried it once I got home after cleaning the dirt inside, and its LOUD!
At another permission, I nabbed a great advertising token. It's in the shape of a circular saw blade and has full detail. I found a near identical one on the token database, but that one has writing on the back inside the wreath as seen on the pic I included.
I didnt do as well as the other guys in the coin department. An unreal 16 wheats, but only one IH, and a V nickel. I was skunked in the silver department. The other guys did much better with Noah hitting an awesome bucket lister that I'll let him post about. All in all a great day. One house that we started we were booted early because the owner was leaving, but I hope to get back to some day since it was really producing and had only really just begun. Cant wait to get out with these guys again!https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180930/42b6e53f3cfdd2f63f87c4f1c38d0f77.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180930/ae837943571d827ca5b81773fb3f30c3.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180930/6a30ffdadd39fa2c04cf383fa351fbdb.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180930/1ccf202184d4fe612ca1443cfacff410.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180930/8f8bb81670a6480cbc51e6cb2e16a96f.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180930/fd2b73fc41cef6a140181888b6be50ac.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180930/c84ef502257eb0a8ac7f608f7f4dcb62.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180930/ae5ab63f0c3206becabcdd7dcf4fa28a.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180930/a3a0636c3dfc15fb2ae907e9154ecd62.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180930/6fe1402900092b010d8f00572e18e9e3.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180930/2c6d2ee22f2df231add95119baa777dd.jpg

Nice haul and glad you were able to work out a joint venture with Don and Tim! I've found two of those old pewter whistles, but could never get a proper attribution on mine seeing there's no identifying marks. From what I've read they range from the 1850s all the way into the early 20th century. Does yours have an ID mark on it?

65154 Two different hunts Chris I found the larger one like yours but also the small but heavier one. Several seated dime were recovered there as well. Never was able to identify. Maybe someone here knows more.

Great bunch of finds! I love that token, I've never seen one like it before. Very cool!

The toy car is a Hot Wheels Red Baron. (Missing some parts.) :-)

John, I can only go by the bit of info and attribution I can find. I found many pewter whistles online, and also almost as many styles. Some are real similar to the one I have, but not exact, and all those have been dated later. Just had to look closely to the shape of the body and if has raised ridges or not. Only found 2 exact matches, and both have been linked to CW duty.

Doesn't seem fair that those guys come to Cheese land and don't let you find any silver. Great finds none the less. I guess the Brewers victory makes up for that. Nice finds WD

That is one of the coolest tokens I have seen. That more than makes up for the lack of silver......:thumbsup02:
