Pulled a few relics from the iron

Hiked into one of my remote sites for some peace and quiet Sunday morning. Worked the iron laden spots to see what I could wrangle out of the ground. Managed a few buttons, buckle frame etc.

Fancy tombac on the right. Looks like the "X" was added by the owner.

On the hike out I stumbled upon a small spot where they had been quarrying some granite. There were a few broken slabs with the telltale feathering marks. I'll make a point to hit that spot next time out.:yes:

Congrats on your finds. You're definitely in the 1700's at that site. Shoe buckles and tombac buttons--what a good haul. I like the designs on the buttons especially the "pie crust" rim on the button on the left. It's so obviously hand-done!

Always a good feeling when you can get hightones to squeak out between the iron, some nice colonial pieces. Always amazes me the amount of work families put in to build houses, I enjoy finding the old quarries and split glacier rocks they used. Can’t get my kids to put there iPads down without a fight let alone split and haul granite:) HH

Glad you are observant DD. I really didn't even pay attention to the pie crust design. Now that you point it out, I like it even more!

That one was pretty deep Drew. I was purposely hunting that iron patch with a deep program at that point. I had missed earlier with a fast recovery speed program.
