Yesterday's hunt had me itching to go detecting again, so late in the day I headed to the same site to see if I could coax a few more old coins from the ground. I didn't find as many silver coins as I did yesterday, but I made up by digging up a nice 1855-O seated half dime and a 1867 Indian Head cent. :happydance01:

This 1855-O seated half dime is a variety 3, arrows at date. There were 600,000 minted. Interestingly enough, it is less valuable than the 1867 Indian Head cent I also picked up today.

Today's total silver.

The large copper is unrecognizable, lacking any details. The 1867 Indian Head cent on the other hand does have some great details. It should clean up nicely.

Excellent hunt. :clapping: The half dime and IH are treasures for sure!

I did realize how small the half dimes are. Did that register similar to a silver dime?

Well done!!!

It did not, actually. The Fe/Co numbers were 12-36 and 12-37, similar to what I had been getting on several of the Indian Head cents I found at that site.

Someone must really be wayching over you and they are showing you signs...I've never seen someone get so many religious metals....even in old sites...they just find you!!! Nice finds, those half dimes can be little bugers, I've found 4 this year.

I love the half dime Angel. Congrats!!! I have found one; it is a special find for me.

They are such tiny coins. :)

So much smaller even than a penny.

Nice scoop on that half dime. How deep was that puppy?? No one seems to care about the Seated series of coins and that is why low mintage coins do not sell for what they should. So many people collecting Indians, Buffalos, Morgans etc... that the prices go sky high. I'd take a Seated half dime any day!! Great score. :clapping:

I think the one you found is in better condition. They are indeed tiny.

The half dime was at about the seven inch mark. It was right by the base of a large leftover tree stump, where decorative loam had likely been added over the years. :thinkingabout:
