I met up with Digger Don and Noah for a weekend of detecting in Ohio. We couldn't believe how dry the ground is there.

I got the 1865 Indian Head right off the bat on Saturday. It is worn but it cleaned up really well. The silver Washington came from the same yard.

The 1912-D Barber Dime and the 1944 Merc came from the yard of a mid-1800s house where Don and Tim had previously found seated coins.

The 1893 and 1898 Indian Heads were in a spill together at a 1920s house.

I got the complete crotal bell towards the end of the day on Saturday in a curb strip. It has some green corrosion that won't come off easily. It still has the jingler inside. I had never found one this big before.

I'd like to know. I don't have a clue.

We did stay in Ohio. Maybe we should have driven home on Saturday evening. Sunday was pretty much a bust, although I did get the 1889 Indian.

A curb strip crotal bell! That explains why I don't have a complete one. I am apparently wasting my time looking for them at the old homestead sites in the woods! :envious:

Nice bunch of finds Tony!

You had a great Saturday for sure! Dime trifecta and all of your Indians are from the 1800's. Well done considering the dry conditions!

How did I miss this post Tony? You got some great looking coins. The patina on the IHCs is awesome. I like the big crotal bell a lot and the green crust gives it real character. Happy digging!
