So, went back to that colonial field and found a massive button, 15mm wide (1 1/2 inch), and 1mm thick. As I cleaned it I seen a wreath in the middle and got very excited thinking I had found a George Washington button. It does have a divit on the back where the shank use to be. But, regardless, after thinking about it, the lettering and Wreath would of be impressed, not raised. So, this leaves me wonder what kind of button do I have. Just a very large decorative one or is it more? Regardless, the ol' blood was pumping pretty good all afternoon. LOL Any suggestions?

I'm going out on a limb and say its either a 40 or 80 reis coin and not a button , please show the reverse .

Hey Del, here is the back, pretty clean, the hole in the center is what made me think there may had a shank. But I see where you are leaning on a reis.

Del, I believe you are correct, after turning the coin I can see a 0 in the center.. I told my wife earlier I was hoping you would see this post cause you are the master :notworthy:
