Got out to Ye Olde Cellar Hole for a few hours Sunday morning. Got my second Municipal Police of New York City (1845 - 1857) button and it cleaned up very well. Also, got six coins including a lead contemporary counterfeit Large Cent :shocked04::omg::happydance01:. Pulled the Danny LaMontagne hat trick and dug the Mercury Dime in the road on the way out.6735567356673576735867359673606736167362673636 736467365

You've got too many irons in the fire, Donnie!

Nice hunt! That button is fantastic! Wow, it cleaned up well and still has so much gilt left on it! :loveit:

The counterfeit large cent is an oddity for sure. I don't think that one would have passed muster.

:congrats:

Very nice Don. I have a site like that that's coughed up 9 of those buttons. They sure don't pop up every day.

I was thinking the same thing after reading Roger's comment. That's the fourth one from this site (the other two were found by a friend) and somebody had been there before we got there.

That button is very nice. I'm curious as to the backmark.

I was thinking the same thing. I don't see how a lead counterfeit could have circulated unless it was plated. Maybe, it was intentionally cast to look very worn?
