Had epic day with Don. Back to house from last weekend and got an iffy wheat/Indian signal. Getting down to it pulling a wheat I rechecked the hole and got another and another and another........ One hole got 20 wheat, 3 Indian, 3 buffalo, 2 V nickel, 3 mercury dimes! Another hole got 2 more dog tags. Earlier in the day got a barber and a wheat same hole. Course got a Rosie too. Oh and a lone merc all lonesome.
Last yard of the day got a 2 Indian spill. What a fun day!

That's an amazing, killer day for sure Noah! I'm surprised Don even gave you a ride back to Illinois. Congrats on finding SO many old coins in one day. Great post. Happy digging, Dave.

Not as exciting as your silver horde BUT for the States I'll take it. I can't imagine why they were there. Home almost looks to me like it could have been a school house. Several "repairs" to the brick indicate windows that are no longer there with a possible porch or stoop removed. Should be much older coins there in my opinion. Frustrates me to think what may be there just out of reach.

Wow! That is one of the coolest spills I have seen posted in a long time! and biggest too! And then you get 2 more of those amazing dog tags? They are in great shape. What are the dates on them? 1883? I have heard that those old dog tags are highly collectable...curious what they are worth.

Wow, just amazing! Wonder if that was a coin purse with that big spill? Love those old dog tags too. Congrats on an awesome hunt!

Epic hunt. 1800's dog tags are rare. That's a great find.

:shocked03: Wowee! I'm with Bucknut, such an amazing hunt TWO 1800s dog tags don't get mentioned??? I've NEVER dug one from the 1800s. I think You, Don, and aloldstuff are the only ones I've ever seen dug. I could be wrong though...my memory IS what it used to be

I think he didn't mention the 1800s dog tags because he had an earlier post about the previous one he found in that same yard. It sure makes you wonder why there were three of them in one yard!

That coin spill is amazing! I can't recall a comparable spill ever being posted with such a variety of old coins. Incredible!

:congrats:

Very solid finds! Agree that the dog tags are by far the best finds of your hunt. I wonder if you could do some research on those at the local town office and see if you could find an attribution?
