Poking around a couple of my nearby sites. One is a mid 1700's site and the other a mid 1800's site. Decided to dig up some of the iron and get it out of the way.

Managed to put together a colonial era table setting ;)

Love the spoon! The wedge looks like it will clean up can’t tell from the pictures but the 2 prong forks look pretty toasty? Are those heart shaped bottom right part of a fob? Looks like a watch chain?

How funny Jeff! Good to see you could get out. We've been lucky up here with a mild winter and got out a bit earlier this month, but we're kinda locked down and frozen for the time being. I'm curious about the item above the star button touching the little brass ring. I've found several of those over the years but to date don't know what they are. Do you know?

That is actually one of the nicer pewter spoons I have found Oneil. It was in between 2 good sized rocks that I or no one else ever bothered to put their coils over. I think I will put the wedge in the electrolysis bucket. Found that one at an early site. The heart shaped thing is maybe from a bracelet. It has a ornate bird motif inside.

With any luck John, spring will come early to the Northeast Kingdom. Yeah, I don't know what the heck that thing is. It's pretty flimsy so I can't see it being used as a lever or switch of some kind. Maybe an old electrical contact ??

I think it is just a cap for something Dan. Maybe a saddle decoration??

You are funny Jeff  . The item I believe is a large kepi "button" or decoration insignia on a Shako helmet , they came in a few motifs (eagles in a couple of poses , stars , "blazed" cannon balls) here are a couple of different shako hats from the 1830's and 40's 6760467605 both have your kepi button on the sides of the visor I believe

Dan is amazing!
Jeff, When you "move iron" what exactly are you doing? Do you listen for large pieces of iron around the hole? You're not digging individual nails are you? That's a ton of surface buttons too!

Dan is the man! Drew what I was doing was listening for and digging the larger pieces of iron that were infesting the area around the lip of a couple of cellar holes. Not digging nails. The 3 porcelain buttons were in the same hole as the metal button.
