Hi Everyone,

Due to the virus I'm working from home with more flexible hours than I'm used to. So most mornings I head out for early 90minbefore I get down to business.

Park- Wheats, weird kneeing warrior pin, Military service pin, heart charm.

State land cellar holes- Small pocket scale, musket, small flat buttons, beat up IH.

Permission cellar hole- Barber Quarter, IH. Thanks!

I'd say that is a nice pile of finds for the week, Drew! I, for one, love your stream of consciousness posts. :-)

For the reasons you mentioned, it definitely pays to revisit sites that you thought were "hunted out".

Gotta love the first year of issue Barber Quarter, and it even has a New Orleans mint mark. Nice!

The "pocket scale" is actually a pocket sundial. The smaller round enclosure would have had a compass in it. Here's an example:

Congrats on the neat finds! :clapping:

You must have been typing as I was erasing my ramblings . Wow, thanks for the cool ID on the sundial!! :notworthy:
What an odd thing!
Thanks, Tony!!

A pocket sundial....that is pretty interesting. I wonder if it was a novelty item or people actually seriously used them? It's remarkable to think about what we carry in our pockets these days compared to then. That is a colorful but strange looking pin.

Great finds! That Barber quarter is a real beauty too.

Good call Tony. I recognized it also but only because the very oldest churches here in Germany have them on the side of the bell tower (much larger of course). We have one in my village too.

Drew, real nice to see that you are not wasting your time off with just lounging around. That sundial is amazing, as was the ID.
A 1st year Barber quarter....

Congrats on the finds! I normally work from home and the devil in me says to go detecting often, but I need to pay the bills. I again have learned something new on this forum, the sundial. Never knew those existed either. While I am not on this forum everyday, I really appreciate everyone on here. Great group of people!

Nice little haul there Drew! State land cellar holes huh? Wish I had that opportunity here in VT. All state land here is off limits.
