Got out with a couple friends today to multiple sites that all gave a little. I hunted the Deus and the Equinox just because. No other reason. Tons of buttons, shoe buckle frag, sleigh bell, Smoothie KGII, suspender parts and a gold ring that I think is 1700s early 1800s from the font and high carrot and the site it was found on. Was fun on a beautiful Sunday. Get out there

Incredible find Todd the colonial Posey ring was made by a well known New York silversmith and no doubt for someone very wealthy and prominent , Agent Yerks , your mission if you choose to do so is to find out who this ring was commissioned for .

Seriously Todd , finds like this are what its really about . It doesn't get much better than that , congrats and don't sell unless you know everything about it first.

Sell? No worries there Dan. I’m one of those guys that has almost everything that I have ever found.
that includes CLAD.
The ring stays with me until no more me. Proud to have it.

I know of a gold morning ring that sold at auction from a couple hundred thousand dollars but the finder didn't get that amount because he didn't do enough research on it

Be sure to let your family know what it is. The last thing you would like is to have your kids sell it for peanuts.

Thanks Guys,
There are a lot of places to post finds and I did But there is a difference in the level of knowledge here. Other places the responses were nice find or a thumbs up which would be about right for a small gold ring But at least on this forum people understand the provedonce that the makers mark brings to this piece.
The ring will be in the next issue of American Digger with a full find story. Get out there

That's an amazing find Todd. Too bad it can't talk and tell it's story. What do the marks mean?

Every time I dig at a colonial cellar hole now I remember this find. I'm hoping to find one of these rings someday. It's such an awesome find.
