Went on a road trip today to an old Park that has been hit pretty hard. The day was a bust till I got a nickel signal. When I was done digging I had 2 V Nickels and 3 Buffalos (1902, 1903, 1916, 1917, 1920 D). Can't remember finding 2 in a hole before much less 5. I hit that area pretty hard and managed 12 wheats but no more nickels and not a silver all day. I also included some silver from 3 previous hunts including the Barber Dime I mentioned in my previous post. Wisconsin Digger

Wow, that's a ton of coins! I hope that park isn't too far away and there's more area in that hot spot to check. There's got to be silver in that area a bit deeper. Congrats on a rare nickel spill!

Nice spill. Buffalo nickel is my white whale for whatever reason. Congrats on the finds!

That is one of the coolest nickel spills I've ever seen! I don't recall seeing anything remotely close to it before. All of the Buffs are early ones. I wouldn't be surprised if the spill happened in 1920 or soon after. How deep were they?

In my little world if I find a Jefferson I feel lucky. Can't remember the last buff I dug....:crying01:. Huge congrats on your spill and as stated earlier I hope that park isn't to far away.

Wow, great finds. Interesting what soil contact does to coins and specifically to Buffs. :thumbsup01:

The coins were just off of an old tree among the roots. The first signal was really clean and down maybe 3-4", The remaining signals were a bit rougher but I am sure I turned a few of those coins from there original position. Got a little aggressive on the cleaning but I feel they look better then the rusty looking coins. Wisconsin Digger

Very nice spill Dave. I'm like Jeff - that's about 2 or 3 years worth of nickles for me!

Nice spill Dave, Around here old nickels are getting harder and harder to find.
