I received an invite from Grant Hansen to hit the standing colonial home site where I found my USA button two weeks ago. This was our third hunt at the property. It's a standing home in New Jersey about 15 minutes from my home and the finds can date from the early 1700's to yesterday. You can find a Revolutionary War button or a stinkin Lincoln. Ya never know. Today, I probably found a rare button for a detectorist. It's not rare as far as non-dug specimens but I don't think many detectorists have found one. It's a United States Military Academy at West Point button! My button dates no earlier than 1923. I also found a lead toy guy that looks like he's skiing.68356683576835868359

That is a cool find Donnie B. I certainly don't recall ever seeing a dug version before on any forum.

Very sharp looking button, and I really like the lead toy figure too! I agree that he/she is skiing. Cool!

Nice button. Your lead guy looks more like a nagging wife! Just look at her...you can even hear her shrill voice!

Yeah, I'm really pleased with this button even though it only dates from 1923 to the mid-1950's. It has to be a rare find for a detectorist as the current enrollment at West Point is only 4000 Cadets. I'm sure you could find plenty on the grounds of West Point but I wouldn't think anyone has ever detected at the Academy. I'm not sure of the enrollment figures in the early to mid 1900's but I would imagine about the same. Certainly, it's a rare find compared to the 1900's Great Seal buttons.

It looks like he is holding the remains of iron ski poles. Kinda odd for a lead toy but I think this may be my first one so I don't really know.

Now that you mention it, I divorced that one.
