I joined this forum 10 years ago today, February 26, 2011. What a great decade it has been. When I joined the group I didn't even have a metal detector. When I asked everyone what machine I should get several people recommended the Minelab E-Trac. I placed an order for one from Sun Ray Detectors in Hazelton, Iowa and it arrived around March 10, 2011. With this machine I found so many bucket list items it's impossible to list them all.

But the finds are secondary to the great friendships I've made here. I've been detecting with Full Metal Digger, Ill Digger, jkress, rgorman, Digger Don, Digger Al, Noah, Moosapalooza, zrickkid, Silver Star, JTGold and Bell-Two. I hope to meet and detect with other forum members in the future.

Thanks to all of the great members here for the knowledgeable insight and the entertaining posts! Here's to another 10 years! :beerbuddy:

Wow, tempus fugit. I forget...what detector did you swing back in the day...like during the depression when you started detecting
I personally appreciate everything you've done here at AD and hope to detect with you when we drive across the country to see our grandkids...if you'd have me.
Thank you, Tony!

Without question, Drew! I'd love to detect with you someday!

I started detecting with my parents' Garrett "Hunter" VLF machine, then bought a Whites 5000/D in about 1981, then bought a Fisher 1260X in about 1985.

Come east sometime Tony. Those boys in CT trip over Pine Tree shillings and GW buttons while hiking out to their cellar hole sites. :envious:

Hard to believe 10 years have gone by already Tony! I still remember our first meeting back in 2012(?) and we detected a couple different parks. I dug a Barber quarter and not too far away a silver Washington quarter that rang up just like a penny. The next time we met up I think you found a seated dime (by the pavilion) and a Civil War button if I remember correctly. Then the park ranger ran us off. LOL. Through you, I met other detectorists and we all became friends (except for the harmonica guy). Best wishes for another 10 years and happy digging!
