Hi Friends,
I found this little watch winder a couple weekends ago. The seal matrix does not have an image on it. I soaked it for a bit in CLR to bring out the silver gilding that survives. I wonder if the owner was a musician. It looks lyre themed to me. How old do you think it is?

definitely a musical theme to this , I could see a musician professional or lover having these on their pocket watch chain . I always love finding either of these types of relics , Dave . congrats sir !

Nice find, Dave! Why would people have a blank wax seal? Or is it kind of a fob? I found a similar one a few years ago. I hope someone "chimes" in with a date. Why do you think 1700s?
Great job as always!

I think the blank seal fob is just a fashion statement. Seems like a lot of them are blank. As for the age of the winder set I'm now leaning towards the latter 1800's. It has a certain "Victorian look" to it.

I was thinking that too, maybe even Edwardian.

Funny you should mention that. As I was typing my previous answer Edwardian popped into my head and then I decided the fob and key had an Art Deco look to them. So maybe even 1920's but I wouldn't go any newer than that.
