Hey everyone,
This afternoon I found this non-weight bearing buckle and never seen one like it. Anyone have an idea as to it's job?

I also found another escutcheon plate. I've found four of them over the years and until today thought they were saddle badges...but one of my young students corrected me. He said it was an escutcheon. I ran it by Dan/Del and he agreed with the kid.
This kid learned this FROM Dan at our local metal detecting meetings. I never go, as I'm not a meeting person
If you haven't noticed, Dan is a treasure...and this kid might just be the next Dan.
Thanks for any info about the buckle!

The buckle looks purely decorative , I can only assume its an early to mid Victorian era type with at least a few usages Drew. I wish I could be more specific on it .
