I have been spending the last few weeks or so hitting beaches in the hopes of finding gold. It has not happened but I have dug alot of junk jewelry and some silver...

I did hit an old park on Labor Day and found the pipe bowl. I hit it with the shovel and busted it in half but it glued up really nice. I also found a pipe stem. The cannon I think might be a cracker jack toy? The watch winder is a first for me.

And my old coins...

Any idea what this is? I see a date of 1879 and 1929 as if it is a 50 year memorial for something.

Great finds!

The token is a "Light's Golden Jubilee" and features Thomas Edison. I found several examples with a Google search.

The pipe bowl looks like it might have a thistle flower on it? I think that was a symbol among the Scottish.

p.s. I did a search for Cracker Jack cannon and found several examples exactly like yours.

Good job on the id Tony , it didn't dawn on me to check " Cracker Jack" even after Bucknut mentioned it . It was about the only place I didn't check . :duh:

You have done a lot better then my attempts at beach/water hunting. All clad for me so far but I have a lot to learn, especially on recoveries. Great variety of finds. Congrats WD

Nice job Bucknut. All I find in Milwaukee is clad and old aluminum fencing or lead or something that is annoying as heck and falls through the scoop.

Great finds! What a coincidence to find the pipe. I only get these through the metal lid that is still on the pipe. Or were you digging in a trash pit? Check to see if the pipe has a mark at the base. You can date it pretty well.

There is no mark on the bottom of the pipe bowl but there is a small chip off of it so maybe there once was a mark. I found it at a park that dates back to the 1840's and I just happened to find it while digging a target with the detector. The area has lumber and fur trade history that dates back to the late 1700's so perhaps it goes back all the way to the 1700's?

Some nice finds there Bucknut. Quite the variety. Love that Edison token. I've never found a full bowl just lots of fragments.

What a coincidence! In any case, very exciting. Could it be that the object you dug up with the pipe belongs to the pipe lid?

Some great finds there! That cannon is a 1930 Crackerjack Tootsie Toy Field Cannon. Here's an example for sale on Ebay: https://www.ebay.com/itm/293039855543
