Last Sunday, Dave ( Full Metal Digger ) drove up from southern Illinois to hunt our button field with us. Unfortunately it didn't get harvested yet due to the rain.
So plan "B" was to hunt a couple of 1850s houses that we had permissions for. Dave killed it at both houses but that's his story to tell!!
At the first house all I was able to get on to was 1911 V Nickle, but at the second house I saved the day by digging an 1851 Largie.

Today Noah and I went back to the second house and I scored another 1851 Largie. This was a first for me, 2 Large cents from the same house!69642

After a few hours we decided to head into town and try another house.
There I dug two mercs and an 1891 Indian. all day I dug only one wheat cent.

I have no idea what this pin is.

Great finds! The pin is for a Knights Templar member. The called their meeting halls Commandries. Looks like it's no longer active but you can ask here: Grand Commandery Knights Templar of Illinois | Illinois Knights Templar (kt-il.org) (http://kt-il.org/)

I couldn't agree more on fall hunting. Both Largies are definitely house finds as they look great. I did a fund raiser seeded hunt this weekend and I didn't find anything close to that. Looking forward to see what the rest of the guys found. Congrats and hope you get a couple of months in yet this year. Thx for posting WD

It was a real thrill to be detecting with you again Don! We all made great finds that day! Noah's seated dime is about as "mint" as you could ever hope for. Looking forward to getting together again real soon.

Amazing, Don! You know when there are multiple large cents in a yard it hasn't been detected before. Those things give off a screaming signal. What a yard!

:congrats:
