I spent last week up at my cottage with my family and I am still finding some awesome buttons there!

I found most of these using the small coil since the area is nail infested.

The below buttons are my oldest US military buttons I have found. They date from 1803-1812 if I remember correctly. All of the other buttons that we find are post War of 1812... 1812-1820 usually.

Below is a pic of two buttons. I dug the complete one a couple years ago and I dug the cut one last week. Nice clean cut...definitely done on purpose.

Here is the relic group shot. There are two tinkling cones (one partially made), a lock key hole, a musket ball, a half circle pc of lead, some plain flat buttons and ball button.

They sure do come out of the ground in great shape there, don't they? Gorgeous!

Sound like the perfect site, relaxing and full of history. You find many musket balls there? What's the deal with the cut button? Great job Jared!

Can you post a group photo(s) of all the buttons you have dug at your site?

OK here are a couple group shots as requested. I think I have a total of 120 War of 1812 era buttons that have some sort of design on them. Then I have a bunch of flat buttons and I am certain that some of them are military...in particular the 5 shiny tombac coat buttons in the lower left.

I found the majority of these but my kids did find some. My mother has her own collection and she has about 50-60 buttons.

Here is a pic of my Indian relics. A fish hook, copper knife blade, copper bracelet, lots of trade rings and tinkling cones. My favorite though is the trade silver. Some of the silver I found a few years and thankfully saved it but it was not until this spring that I found out what it was when I found more of it and another detectorist clued me in on what I found.
