Went out with Catskill Comics and another friend today for a marathon hunt. I really didn't want to go back to this park, however it was the concensus so I obliged. :beatdeadhorse: :behave:

Got there at ~ 9am and hunted for ~ 3 hours ; I only managed to find a few wheats. A bit later, I was hunting in the trash with IM 22 and heard something..up came the 64 rosie, just made it silver. By then our friend was coming towards; hadn't seen him for hours. He had several silvers and 2 coppers (a king george and a jersey). He took us to the spot, however we found no more. :beatdeadhorse:

Several more hours and I was really no feeling it, I wanted to relocate hours ago. I manned up and said lets keep going. Maybe about 5 pm I got a deep signal. Up came some silver with the identity hidden by the dirt. I figured at this depth it had to be serious :happydance01: <:.....well needless to say, it was the other rosie. Again I meandered and found some clad, this pretty cool pendant and then at 6:15, the copper :happydance01: <:. Wow was I lucky to dig this. It came up as a dime at 4 and I could hear it wasn't silver. I decided to dig it, but I did not expect a copper, that's for sure. I thought I saw 1765 at the location...maybe the scan will show it. I am told it's a british coin and I am certain someone will chime in here on it.

My arm hurts and I'm tired but it was a fun day with theguys! :beerbuddy:

hey Aaron , isn't New England great :happydance01: one minute you find a silver coin from the 60's and the next you find a coin from 200+plus years earlier . a very good day in my book if ya ask me :clapping: :clapping:.
the George looks like an older head type ( 1740's to 1760's ) congrats again Aaron .

It may not have been the best choice for you, but it did produce a lot from a location that was hammered. I bet they won't be able to talk you into another hunt there next weekend though lol

It can get frustrating sometimes I know, but hey you found some great coins, 2 silvers and a copper! There are many on this board (myself included) that would consider that a VERY successful hunt. :yes:

Depends on who finds it lol You..... we let you get away with up to 1974 ;) Heavymetalnut? He always gets some of these, no matter what date it is :thinkingabout: :dontknow: :dontknow: Usually it's right around the end of the 1790's and a little bit more. Draped Bust coinage is where I cut it at. It's not a set in stone date, but kind of an end of an era deal. :confused:

I think you'rs rigth George, it appears to be a coin minted from 1746-1754 and not the older version minted from 1729-1739.

To me, the original photo looks more like the 1729-1739 one pictured above.

Hard to tell, but I'm going with 173_. Cleaning it may remove any of the remainig date.
